I work with individuals and couples who are drawn to depth, people who sense that something important lies beneath the surface of their difficulties and want to explore it rather than simply manage it. My clinical sensibility has been shaped by decades of immersion in both Eastern and Western contemplative and spiritual traditions, interpersonal psychoanalysis, and somatic practices.
I hold a Ph.D. from the Center for Psychological Studies in Berkeley, where my doctoral work focused on Heidegger's later philosophy and its relevance to psychoanalytic practice. My clinical formation includes training in the tradition of R.D. Laing and the New School for Psychoanalysis, and I have practiced and taught psychotherapy in the Bay Area for over three decades.
Therapy is a relationship. The best way to know whether we can work well together is to book a free consultation with me on Zoom. If we are not a good fit, I may be able to offer you a referral to a trusted colleague. At the moment the majority of my sessions are online, though some in-person sessions are available.
